Welcome to Montgomery Child Advocacy Project - MCAP - A unique nonprofit dedicated to helping the helpless: abused and maltreated child victims.
MCAP IS ABOUT HELPING CHILDREN…YOU TOO CAN HELP CHILDREN
Montgomery Child Advocacy Project (MCAP) is honored to serve as race director and beneficiary of the annual Run for the Hill of It and continue the tradition started by the Friends of Erik to help children in need. The annual 5 mile run and 1 mile fun walk will be on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 8:30am at Northwestern Avenue and Forbidden Drive in Fairmount Park, Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania.
MCAP is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal representation to children who are victims of abuse and neglect. At least 76% of people who abuse children are caregivers, family members or family friends. (Pediatric Medical Review Board 2009) To whom can an abused child turn when the person supposed to protect them violates them? An MCAP attorney is a pro bono lawyer who establishes a relationship with a mistreated child based upon trust and hope. MCAP advocate attorneys protect the interests of their young clients and offer them support and representation as they navigate through the legal and social service arenas. The goal of MCAP is to help children heal and learn to trust others.
Every 10 seconds in America, a child is abused. According to Childhelp, while there are 3 million reports of child abuse made each year in the United States; experts estimate the actual number of incidents of abuse and neglect to be 3 times greater than reported. In 2007, approximately 8 out of every 1,000 children living in Pennsylvania were reported as victims of suspected child abuse. (PA Department of Public Welfare 2007 Annual Child Abuse Report). Committed to helping at risk children, MCAP responds to the needs of the vulnerable children. An MCAP advocate becomes the child’s first step to overcome the horrific and devastating experiences.
Join the MCAP team and participate in the 24th Annual Run for the Hill of It.
Run the 5 mile, walk the fun walk, become a sponsor, or volunteer! Help make a difference in an abused child’s road to recovery.
